New ballistic shields in place at Montgomery County Court House

NORRISTOWN >> The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department recently installed bulletproof ballistic shields to add an extra level of security for deputies manning entrances at county buildings that house court-related services.

Sheriff Sean P. Kilkenny said there were no specific county incidents that prompted the $15,000 purchase of six ballistic shields but he said officials developed the idea with protection in mind and after visiting the justice center in Chester County and seeing such shields used there.

NORRISTOWN >> A former Hatfield man already in state prison on gun charges saw his time behind bars increase as a judge sentenced him to additional time for fatally striking a teenage pedestrian while driving recklessly in Lower Pottsgrove.

Truck full of live hogs overturns in Hatfield

HATFIELD TWP. >> A truck driver hauling 160 live hogs destined for processing at the Clemens Food Group escaped injury Thursday evening when his tractor-trailer overturned on Clemens Road.

The incident occurred just after 6 p.m. when the truck turned from Forty Foot Road onto Clemens Road and toppled onto its side, according to Hatfield police, who said at the scene that the cause of the accident had not yet been determined.
