We are a Local Chapter of a National Service Organization

• Creating mobility and independence for people with disabilities
• 501©3 non-profit
• Indian Valley Ambucs just celebrated its tenth year. The chapter was founded in May 200 I had the pleasure of presiding over our President’s Night event for this milestone year.

Community Service:

• Give away AmTrykes (Therapeutic Tricycles) to people with disabilities
  1. Often referred to us by Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia
  2. We just ordered AmTryke’s two local children from the national wish list. One boy, Axel from Souderton, and one child from Hatfield.
  3. The ladies of R.E.A.L. (Real Empowered Adventurous Ladies) are sponsoring half of one of these bikes from their Pizza Hut Fundraiser (7/21) and a group of teachers who ran booth at the Harleysville Fair are sponsoring the other half of one of these two local AmTryke’s.
• We give away scholarships to Physical and Occupational Therapy students
• Build Access Ramps
  1. We are currently arranging a wheelchair lift to be installed on a truck for one person in Red Hill
• Memorial Day Parade in Hatfield with the Hatfield American Legion
  1. Walked the AmTryke’s behind the trailer this year handing out candy to the crowd. It went well and was much more personal than it had been in the past riding the trailer and throwing out candy to the crowd
• Adopt-a-Family at Christmas time each year
• Bear give away each year at Valentine’s day at a Convalescent Facility
  1. This year we were received well at the Rock Hill Mennonite home and we expect to return there again next year
• Adopt-a-Highway Morwood Road each quarter
  1. The next clean-up will be on Sunday morning 7/31 (this upcoming Sunday) @ 10am

• Yard Sale – Just finished July 1st & 2nd at a new location on route 113 in Harleysville
  1. Raised over $2,000
  2. Thank You, our gracious hosts: Rochelle Kulp and Mark Alcala
• Beach Day Social  this Saturday 7/30, we are meeting in Atlantic City for an afternoon at the beach, beach games, tanning, sand and water
• Adopt a highway clean-up of Morwood Road Sunday 7/31 at 10am.
• Golf Outing – 8/13 at Skippack Golf course
  1. 18 holes this year
  2. Cheap hole sponsorship of just $100
  3. $90 per golfer
  4. $425 gets you a foursome and a hole sponsor

• Yankee Candle Sales  for Christmas delivery – Selling in October
• Magic Show coming up in October – details forthcoming
• Pool Tournament –February 18th, 2012

• Recent Local Events:
  • December 2010 Amtryke Rodeo, we gave away ~20 Amtrykes to children with disabilities. It was a joint event with other Ambucs chapters in Norristown, Conshohocken, Valley Forge & Indian Valley Ambucs.
    • Fitted the children at the Charity Lodge in Norristown
    • Bikes delivered to and then we Built them at Moore Chevrolet in Conshohocken
    • Gave them away at the Spring Valley YMCA in Royersford
