Police: Female pedestrian struck and killed by SEPTA train in Hatfield

HATFIELD TWP. >> A female pedestrian was struck and killed by a SEPTA train early Monday morning between the Fortuna and Colmar stations, Hatfield Township police confirmed Monday afternoon.

Detective Sgt. John Ciarlello said that shortly after 5 a.m., the female – whose name and age was not released – was on the tracks near the 2300 block of North Broad Street when she was fatally struck by a westbound train, which was immediately stopped by an engineer.

Police: Montgomery Township opioid dealer arrested

TOWAMENCIN >> After an investigation, Towamencin detectives have arrested a 24-year-old Montgomery Township man accused of dealing prescription opioid pills and heroin in the area, according to police.

Joseph Robert Galanti, of the 100 block of Clayton Court, has been charged with felony counts of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and criminal use of a communication facility, as well as misdemeanor counts of receipt in commerce of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a small amount of marijuana.

WHITEMARSH >> The Valley Forge Tourism and Convention Board (VFTCB) held a travel rally Monday at the Philadelphia Cricket Club in Flourtown.

The board’s new mascot – Montgomery “Monty” Fox – made his debut at the rally and will be the face of travel in the county, which keeps with this year’s theme of Faces of Travel.
