Towamencin OKs negotiations with Georgia firm to manage pool

Towamencin >> A company from Georgia could be the answer Towamencin has been looking for all winter.

The township supervisors voted unanimously Wednesday night to negotiate a contract with Standguard Aquatics to manage the Towamencin Pool for 2017, and perhaps longer.

“We’re very pleased at this point – a lot more than a couple of months ago,” said Township Manager Rob Ford.

North Penn school board, teachers' union say contract talks have begun

Lansdale >> Negotiations on a new contract between the North Penn School District and its teachers’ union have begun.

“It’s very preliminary, just kind of meeting and greeting. The requirements we have are to meet with the union representatives first thing in the new year. We’ve done that, and we are now in the process of awaiting proposals, and we’ll provide counterproposals,” said school board member Tim Kerr.

Accused Upper Gwynedd heroin dealer faces half-dozen counts after investigation

LANSDALE >> An already convicted 23-year-old North Penn heroin dealer arrested again in December for allegedly selling the deadly narcotic is headed for trial on a half-dozen criminal counts after waiving his preliminary hearing in district court.

Robert Duane Weyant, of the 1100 block of Highpoint Circle in Upper Gwynedd, appeared before Lansdale District Judge Edward Levine and waived felony counts of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and criminal use of a communication facility, as well as misdemeanor counts of receipt in commerce, illegal drug possession and possession of drug paraphernalia, records show.
