Griswold Home Care hosting blood drive

PLYMOUTH MEETING >> To celebrate the anniversary of its founder’s birth, Griswold Home Care will host a blood drive Monday, July 30, at its corporate headquarters.

All those wishing to donate blood can do so between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. by appointment, a press release noted.

“Jean Griswold, who founded the company in Erdenheim in 1982, was committed to community service and launched the company to assist those who needed care in their homes,” said Michelle Still, director of Griswold Home Care’s Lower Pennsylvania offices.

Mats that Matter group in Souderton helps homeless in Philadelphia

SOUDERTON >> Mary Caruso can generally tell which store the plastic shopping bags came from just by seeing the color.

“This is Walmart. This is ShopRite,” she said, pointing out the different color sections in one of the mats made from the bags. “This is CVS. This is Best Buy.”

The mats made from the plastic bags are distributed in Philadelphia to the homeless.

Twin duplex plan approved by Lansdale planning commission

LANSDALE >> A plan to build new houses on the 400 block of W. Seventh St. in Lansdale has cleared a hurdle, earning approval from the borough’s planning commission Monday night.

“This is a redevelopment property located at Seventh and Jacob Streets, to build two two-unit duplexes, with parking in the rear,” said attorney Carl Weiner.
