Play review: Rock 'n' roll is here to stay in 'Million' Dollar Quartet' at Bucks County Playhouse

Sam Phillips opened a recording studio in Memphis back in 1950. A devotee of rhythm and blues, he worked mostly with African-American musicians at first. He figured there was a large white audience that he hoped to reach with the music he loved. By the mid 50’s, his studio and Sun Records had expanded to include the likes of Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, Johnny Cash, and Elvis Presley.
