North Penn finance committee meeting could be rescheduled to address rebate program questions

LANSDALE >> North Penn School Board members and staff are working to get the word out about a new tax rebate available to certain low-income seniors, but may need to call a new board meeting to do so.

“Our new tax rebate program that we have in the district is designed to provide some tax relief for some senior citizens in the district,” said board Vice President Ed Diasio.

NORRISTOWN >> Two Lansdale brothers are headed to jail on drug-related charges after a law enforcement raid of their borough residence netted significant amounts of various drugs.

Chheng D. Ploysy, 32, of the 800 block of Andover Road, was sentenced in Montgomery County Court to 3 #xbd; to seven years in a state correctional facility after he pleaded guilty to charges of possession with intent to deliver buprenorphine, naloxone and lisdexamfetamine, in connection with incidents that occurred in July 2017.

'Monster under the bed' faces prison for Cheltenham stabbing

NORRISTOWN >> A man characterized as the “monster under the bed” was sent to prison for stabbing a male friend of a Cheltenham woman with whom he was obsessed after lying in wait at her home.

Gerardo Lopez Mejia, 29, of the 200 block of East Somerville Street, Philadelphia, was sentenced in Montgomery County Court to 25 to 50 years in a state correctional facility after he pleaded guilty to charges of attempted murder and burglary in connection with the March 18, 2017, incident.

North Penn board OKs personnel changes, including new high school principal

LANSDALE >> North Penn High School and several district elementary schools will have new leadership when the upcoming school year starts.

The district’s school board voted unanimously Thursday to approve a sweeping set of personnel changes, including a promotion for high school assistant principal Pete Nicholson to act as high school principal.
