Weather blamed for Lederach Golf Course in Lower Salford running behind budget

LOWER SALFORD >> As of the end of June, the township-owned Lederach Golf Club was running about $58,000 behind budget for the year, Lower Salford Township Board of Supervisors Chairman Doug Gifford said during his monthly report on the golf course at the Aug. 2 board meeting.

“We’re hoping that August will be a good month because we already know that July was terrible,” Gifford said.

Commonly known as webbing clothes moths, the insects were posing a threat to the fabric, as it were, of The Betsy Ross House, a landmark in Philadelphia said to be the site where seamstress and upholsterer Betsy Ross lived when she created the first American Flag.

Contract near for fire escape fix on Lansdale's 421 W. Main building

LANSDALE >> Borough officials are moving ahead on repairs to a borough-owned building that Montgomery County is continuing to move into.

Finance Director John Ramey gave an update last week about a project to install a new fire escape on the building, which has served several roles for the borough over the past half-century.
